habeas corpus is the right to a trial by jury, the new patriot act is the law that deprive people from habeas corpus.
you know it is not the americans that are scared it is the people in charge. The last thing they would want is the press accusing them of not taking precautions.That's why they created a whole set of new preemptive laws !! they even have preemptive wars.
Preemption is a good thing and surely works but at the expenses of some innocent people and ofcourse some of their rights.
The question is how far the people in charge are willing to go
-Torture 1 to save 1000 and save yourself?
-Emprison 1 to save 1000 ?
-Kill 10000 to save 1000 ?
-Do what is politically correct ?
-Follow the polls!!
Or do as my favorit quote from Bourne Ultimatum says "hope for the best and plan for the worst ." hehehe
